TROUBLESHOOTING
u Entire instrument fails to play.
w e MASTER VOLUME Rotary Knob is at the minimum setting. Adjust the volume using the MASTER VOLUME Rotary
Knob.
w MIDI LOCAL CONTROL is set to “OFF.” Turn MIDI LOCAL CONTROL “ON” if you are not not using an external
sequencer or computer. See page 129 for instructions on how to do this.
u Malfunction of buttons, keys, etc.
w Turn the power to the instrument “OFF,” then turn it “ON” again. If this procedure is not successful,
1. Turn the power to the instrument “OFF.”
2. Press and Hold the [RECORD] Touch Button.
3. While holding the [RECORD] Touch Button, turn the power to the instrument “ON.”
NOTE: All parameters will return to their factory settings.
u [MENU/EXIT] and [RECORD] Touch Buttons do not work.
w e display is locked. Turn DISPLAY LOCK “OFF.” See page 44 for instructions on how to do this.
u Drawbars do not change tone.
w e Assignable Drawbar parameter may be enabled. See page 119 for instructions on how to check this.
u SPLIT does not work.
w MIDI IN mode is set at “LOWER” or “UPPER.”
Set the MIDI IN mode according to your preference (See p. 129 for instructions on how to do this).
If you are using the XK-5 in conjunction with the XLK-5 or XLK-3 Lower Manual, the SPLIT feature is disabled. e Lower
Manual Drawbars tones will play from the connected Lower Manual.
u PEDAL TO LOWER does not function.
w e PEDAL TO LOWER function is assigned to the Foot Switch. Use the Foot Switch to turn PEDAL TO LOWER “ON”
and “OFF,” or assign another function to the Foot Switch. See page 116 for instructions on how to do this.
w If the XK-5 is used as a single-manual instrument, the SPLIT feature must be “ON” in order for the PEDAL TO LOWER
function to work. (P. 60).
u Expression does not work.
w If an Expression Pedal is connected to either of the Foot Controller jacks, the EXPRESSION SOURCE parameter for that jack
must be set to “EXPRESSION.” (P. 117).
w OVERDRIVE EXPRESSION is set at “OD Only” or “Input.” Set the value of the OVERDRIVE EXPRESSION at “EX-
OD” or “OD-EX.” (P. 77).
w e “Wah-Wah” Multi-Eect can be controlled by an Expression Pedal. If the Wah-Wah SOURCE (SRC) parameter is set at
“EXP,” the Expression Pedal will not change the volume. Set the SRC parameter at “MAN” or “LFO.” (P. 79).
u Foot Switch does not work.
w Check the settings for “Control - Foot Switch” (P. 116).
u The sound is interrupted when a Patch is changed.
w e sound will be interrupted momentarily if changing Patches changes the settings for the the following parameters:
Multi-Eects
OCTAVE
SPLIT
PEDAL TO LOWER
INTERNAL or EXTERNAL ZONES.
