A. Shut-down Procedure
Thebestwaytoshutdowntheapplianceistosimplyletit
runoutoffuel,andshutdownnaturallyasthetemperature
cools.Thismethodishighlyrecommendedfortheendof
seasonshut-down.
To shut-down otherwise, turn the mode selector to "OFF'
verifybyensuringthattheStatuslightgoesout.Theshut-
downprotocolofthecircuitboardwillsafelyallowthere
to go out.

Soot Formation and Need For Removal- When coal is
burned,theproductsofcombustioncombinewithmoisture
toformasootresiduewhichaccumulatesontheuelining.
When ignited, this soot makes an extremely hot re. The
chimney and chimney connector should be inspected at
least once every two months during the heating season
to determine if a soot buildup has occurred. If soot has
accumulated,itshouldberemovedtoreducetheriskofa
chimneyre.
Removeallburningfuel
fromthegratebyscrapingitintotheashpan.Movetheash
pan safely outside the home and place it on the ground,
wellawayfromanycombustibles.Turnthecontrolto"Off"
andnotifytheredepartment.Donotoperatetheappliance
untilthechimneyandconnectorhavebeeninspectedand
approvedbyachimneyprofessional.
