A. Design, Installation & Location Considerations
1. Appliance Location
Considerationmustbegiventosafety,convenience,trafc
ow,andthefactthattheappliancewillneedachimneyand
chimneyconnector.Itisagoodideatoplanyourinstallation
on paper, using exact measurements for clearances and
oorprotection,beforeactuallybeginningtheinstallation.
Maintain specied vent clearance to combustible
requirementslistedbytheventmanufacturersinstructions
andallclearancetocombustibleslistedinthismanual.
Checkwithyourlocalbuildingcodeagencybeforeyoubegin
yourinstallation.BesurelocalcodesdonotsupersedeUL
specications and always obtain the required permit so
thatinsuranceprotectionbenetscannot be unexpectedly
cancelled.Ifanyassistanceisrequiredduringinstallation,
please contact your dealer.
Werecommendthataqualiedbuildinginspectorandyour
insurancecompanyrepresentativereviewyourplansbefore
and after the installation.
2. Room Sensor Location
The room sensor's location will have some effect on the
appliance'soperation.Whenthesensorislocatedcloseto
the appliance, it may require a higher setting to keep the
rest of the house comfortable. If the sensor is located in
anadjacentroom,orfartherawayfromthestove,youwill
noticehighertemperaturesneartheappliance.
B. Fire Safety
Maintain the designated clearances to combustibles.
Insulationmustnottouchthechimney.Youmustmaintain
thedesignatedairspacearoundthechimney.Thisspace
around a chimney is necessary to allow natural heat
removalfromthearea.Insulationinthisspacewillcausea
heatbuildup,whichmayignitewoodframing.
NOTE: Clearances may only be reduced by means
approved by the regulatory authority having jurisdiction.
To provide reasonable re safety, the following should be
givenseriousconsideration:
• Installatleastonesmokedetectoroneachoorof
yourhome.Detectorsshouldbelocatedawayfrom
the heating appliance and close to sleeping areas.
Followthesmokedetectormanufacturer'splacement
andinstallationinstructions,andbesuretomaintain
regularly.
• AconvenientlylocatedClassAreextinguisherto
contendwithsmallresresultingfromburningembers.
• Apracticedevacuationplan,consistingofatleasttwo
escape routes.
• Aplantodealwithahopperreasfollows:
a.Evacuatethehouseimmediately.
b.NotifyFireDepartment.
