Axis Position Transduction System
Each axis is equipped with a linear optical transducer consisting of an optical scale and a position reader,
which micrometrically detects the position of the axis and reads the movement.
When an axis moves, the position reader generates electrical pulses which it sends to the control system.
The control system counts the pulses and converts them into the corresponding axis movement.
The movement of an axis is always calculated with respect to a reference point, called “zero”, which
corresponds more or less to the axis stroke end position (main carriage back, central carriage to the left
and Z-rail at the top).
