Troubleshooting problems
This section describes examples of basic troubleshooting with the remote
console.
# Problem Description
1 Remote console cannot be
started.
Check the Java VM version. If it is not supported, install
a supported one. See
Requirements for a system
console on page 1-3
for the supported versions, Java
VM, and
Remote console behavior with unsupported
Java VM on page 1-9 for the currently working Java
VM.
Starting the remote console requires HTTP
communication via TCP port 80 and HTTPS
communication via TCP port 443. Communication via
TCP port number (default: 5001) is also available for
remote console connection.
Check if communication using those ports is available
between the system console and the server blade BMC
in your environment, and also check if the problem
shown in #7 in this table is applicable.
When using Oracle Java Version 7 Update 21 or later,
see Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 7
update25 or later on page 1-10.
2 Inconsistencies in key
status: CapsLock,
NumLock, and ScrollLock
between the server blade
and system console.
To have keys on both sides in the same state,
inactivate the remote console window and press
CapsLock, NumLock, and ScrollLock keys to change
their states on the system console, which leads to
matching those in the server blade.
3 When FD media are
changed with the remote
FD connected, newly
inserted FD medium cannot
be read and written
correctly.
Changing FD media when the remote FD drive is
connected is not supported. When changing FD media,
disconnect the FD drive, change FD media, and then
connect the drive again.
4 When multiple servers use
the remote FD by using the
same FD drive and image
file, the FD media cannot
be read and written
correctly.
Sharing a FD drive and the image file by multiple
servers is not supported. Use a FD drive and image file
with a single server.
5 The server blade VGA
screen is displayed after
powering off.
The server blade VGA screen that is displayed before
powering off may be kept to display after the OS
shutdown or server blade power off, instead of
displaying "No Signal" on the remote console. If "No
Signal" is not displayed, confirm that the power status
shown in the lower right corner of remote console
window is Power OFF.
6 With Internet Explorer 8 in
operation, the remote
console or virtual media
console cannot be started.
This problem may occur due to problems with Internet
Explorer 8 shown in the following Web site.

Start Internet Explorer, click Tools, point to
SmartScreen Filter, and then click Turn Off
