Do not pour any corrosive substances down the drains.
Donotpourboilingwaterdownthedrains.Corrosive
substances and boiling water damage drain pipes and
syphons.
The following applies for the sink and the cooker
• Cleanstainlesssteelpartswithnormalhouseholdcleaners
or special stainless steel cleansing agents.
•The rubber seals of the toilet should be cleaned regularly
with plain water and a lubricant for seals (not Vaseline or
any other vegetable fats) should be applied. Applying this
regularly to the washer of the valve and other seals in the
toiletwillensurethattheystayexibleandfunctionlonger.
The following applies for built-in equipment
• Thespacebehindtherefrigeratorshouldbehooveredand
cleaned regularly. The ventilation grille should also be kept
clean. The door seal should be rubbed once a year with
talcumpowertokeepitsuppleandtheexpandablefold
should be checked for tears.
Remove all spray cans with cleaners and polishes from
thevehicleafternishingtheupkeep!Otherwise,thereisa
dangerofexplosionattemperaturesover50°C!
12.6 Winter Lay Up for the Van
The following applies for the external structure
•Washthevanthoroughly(see 12.4).
•Checkthevehiclefordamagestothevarnishandother
damages. If necessary, repair these damages and carry out
any other necessary repairs.
For many people, the camping season ends when the tempe-
rature starts to fall. Your van must be properly prepared for its
winter lay up.
The following general rules apply
• Onlyleaveyourvaninaclosedspaceifitisdryandwell-
aired. Otherwise, it is better to leave your van in the open.
• Toprotectthetyres,jackupthevanormoveitslightlytoa
new position every two months.
• Closeallgasbottlesandemergencyshutovalves.
• Disconnect(or,ideally,remove)thebatteryandstoreitsafe
fromfrost.Checkitaboutonceamonthtoseeifitisstill
charged; if not, charge it.
•Checktheantifreezeinthecoolingsystemand,ifnecessa-
ry, top it up.
•Leavespacebetweentarpaulinsandthecampersoasnot
to hamper ventilation.
