CYLINDER/PISTON
CYLINDER REMOVAL
Remove
the
cylinder
head (page
8-
12).
Remove the bolts, cam chain
tensioner
lifter
and
gasket.
Remove the
mounting
bolt
and
cylinder
.
Prevent the cam Remove the
dowel
pins and gasket.
chain from the
falling into the
crankcase.
PISTON REMOVAL
Place a clean shop Remove
the
piston
pin
clips
with
pliers.

over
the
crankcase
to
prevent
the clips
from fallmg the
cran/ccase.

ton rings are
easily broken; take
care
not
to
damage
them
during
removal.

Press
the
piston pin
out
of
the
piston and
remove
the piston.
Under
racing conditions, the piston,
piston
r
ings
and piston pin
should
be replaced according
to
the maintenance schedule (page 3-6).
Spread
the
piston rings and
remove
them
by
lifting
up
at a
point
just
opposite
the
gap.
