Activate the CDMA Phone
You need to contact your wireless carrier and set up an account to activate the
CDMA phone on your CT60 WWAN model computer (CT60L1N).
You also need to provide the carrier with the Mobile Equipment Identifier (MEID)
for the computer. You can find the MEID:
• on a label located in the battery compartment.
• on the outside of the computer shipping box.
Note: For the CDMA phone, settings are permanently stored in the WWAN radio after
activation. CDMA settings persist through an Enterprise Reset but not a Factory
Reset.
The activation process is slightly different for each CDMA carrier. In general, you
should contact your wireless provider to register the unique MEID number for
computer and confirm the appropriate steps to take for phone activation on the
providers network. Use the following steps as a guide.
1. Contact your wireless provider, verify your account is active with the carrier and
give the provider the MEID number for the computer.

3. Use the activation method recommended by your provider. Methods vary by
provider.
Some providers support automatic activation. This type of activation starts by
simply rebooting the mobile computer. As soon as the network detects your
phone, Hands-Free Activation (HFA) begins, and a series of notification mes-
sages appear. When activation is complete, a completion message appears and
the WWAN radio reboots. The phone is ready to use.
Other providers require you to use the computer to make a phone call using
a special number they provide. To activate the phone using this method, you
would open the phone app and select the dial pad . Enter the provider’s
unique activation number (e.g., *228). Tap the phone icon to initiate the call.
After a short wait, a message appears on the computer, confirming either suc-
cess or failure of the activation. After successful activation, the phone is ready
to use.
