3. Remove the four Phillips M2.0 × 3.5 screws (4) that secure the fans to the computer, and then remove
the fans from the computer (5).
Reverse this procedure to install the fan assembly.
Heat sink
To remove the heat sink, use these procedures and illustrations.

NOTE: The heat sink can also be removed with the system board.
Before removing the heat sink, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (see Preparation for disassembly on page 33).
2. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 33).
3. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 34).
Remove the heat sink:
NOTE: The thermal pad should be changed every time the heat sink is replaced.
1. In the order indicated on the heat sink, remove the four screws on models with discrete graphics or
seven Phillips M2.0 × 4.0 screws for models with UMA graphics (1) that secure the heat sink to the
computer.
