8.3. PUBLICSWIMMINGPOOLS
We recommend 20 - 24 hours’ continuous operation, a Redox potential between 400 and 800 mV,
and pH between 7.2 and 7.5.
STARTING UP THE CIRCULATION PUMP AND PUTTING INTO OPERATION
1. Open up the three by-pass valves and put Oxymatic into operation, then close the by-pass
valve to pass water through the chamber.
2.
Purge air from the chamber using the upper white buttons (if necessary)
3.
Check that all components are operating correctly (pumps, probes, lights, etc.)
4.
Check the amps and voltages of the Titanium electrodes
AMPS MUST BE BETWEEN 6 AND 12 A, ACCORDING TO OXYMATIC MODEL,
VOLTAGE MUST ALWAYS BE UNDER 9.5V WHATEVER THE AMPS.
If the voltage is 9.5V, out some sea-salt (NaCl) directly into the pool (25 kg per 50 m
3
volume).
.
(*) Recommended water salinity is approximately 600 TDS. This adjustment is made only when starting up
the system and when salinity decreases owing to a large number of water replacements, etc.
5. Water conditionning:
a) Effective recirculation: full recirculation is recommended in maximum 4 hours.
b) Carry out shock treatment in the order of 10 mg/l Cl. Granulated dichloride is
recommended.
- Put in an amount sufficient (depending on the indications) to reach a level of 10 mg
/ l(ppm) chlorine. In practice and as an indication, add 2-3 kg dichloride per 50 m
3
water.
- When recirculating water, put half of the chlorine in the skimmer and distribute the
remainder in the pool basin. It is not necessary to dilute it.
- Leave the filter running during complete renewal of the water. Generally 4-5 hours,
but depending on the pump flow.
- Shut down the pump and wait 8 hours (till next day)
- If algae are present, rub down the pool basin wall and floor with a brush. Start up
automatic cleaning of the floor and remove any residual algae or dirt from the basin
(so that it will not pass through the filter and return to the pool).
- Carry out cleansing and rinsing of the filters.
c) Raise the alkalinity level above 80 mg/L using sodium bicarbonate
d) pH must be between 6,8 y 7,5. We recommend 7,2 (the system regulates itself
automatically).
6. When chlorine drops <2mg/l, it means that the pool is ready for use.
