Copper ion concentration (ppm) required for the elimination of some microorganisms:
TABLE 2: Destruction of microorganisms by the system OXYMATIC
It has been observed the destruction of E. Coli from 0.1 to 2.0 ppm at pH ranges from 6.5 to
8.0 as confirmed Water check National Testing Labs (Ypsilanti, MI), Spectrum Labs
(Minneapolis, MN) and MN Department of Health. Subsequently, municipal public health
inspectors and private companies were conducting additional checks to E. coli. One result of
these investigations was the finding of the stability of copper ion in pipelines until they are
fixed. At the moment this is one of the best on the market proven solutions for the removal of
coli forms and E. Coli.
An added advantage is that the system has a certain effect OXYMATIC disinfectant. The
calcium in the water is kept in the form of bicarbonate (water soluble), with a pH around 7
and a maximum temperature of 50 º C approximately. Therefore avoiding the fouling inside
the pipe and reduces the tendency to corrosion. This phenomenon has been tested by ETL
Laboratories / EPA and developed by OXYMATIC in 1995.
Warning. - In coated liner pools must be especially careful so that the pH
exceeds 7.6 and that from this point begins to precipitate copper and by the
characteristics of the pool liner can be stained blue and these stains are
difficult to remove.
With any other covering material or maintaining the pH below 7.6 there is no problem.
