Overview

The Immergas EOLO STAR 24 3 E is a wall-mounted gas boiler designed for heating environments and producing domestic hot water. It can be installed outdoors in partially protected areas or indoors, with variations in classification depending on the installation type. For outdoor installation in partially protected areas, it can be configured with an Ø80 exhaust terminal (Type C) or with concentric terminals and separators (Type C), with the upper casing being recommended but not obligatory for the latter. For outdoor installation using a recessed frame, it utilizes spacers under the side plugs of the sealed chamber with concentric or other suitable pipes for air intake and fume exhaustion (Type C). Indoor installation can be done without the two intake caps and with an upper casing, using an Ø80 exhaust terminal (Type B22), or without an upper casing, using concentric terminals and separators (Type C).

Function Description:

The boiler operates to heat water below boiling temperature at atmospheric pressure. It includes an antifreeze function that activates the pump and burner when the system water temperature in the boiler falls below 4°C, protecting against freezing down to -5°C, provided it is correctly connected to gas and electricity, powered constantly, and free from ignition blocks or faulty components. For protection down to -15°C, an optional antifreeze kit with two electric heating elements and a control thermostat can be installed, along with adding a high-quality antifreeze liquid to the heating circuit. The boiler features electronic modulation to adapt its power output to the heating demands of the home, operating within a variable gas pressure field between minimum and maximum heating power. It also incorporates an electronic timing device to prevent frequent burner ignitions during the heating phase, adjustable via parameter P7. A pump anti-block function activates the pump for 30 seconds every 24 hours in summer mode and every 3 hours in winter mode to prevent blockages. The "Anti-Extruder function" (parameter P3) reduces the heating temperature to 57°C if domestic hot water circulation is detected in heating mode. A "Domestic hot water post circulation function" (parameter P4) keeps the pump on for 2.5 seconds in winter and 1.5 seconds in summer after domestic hot water flow to reduce lime scale formation. The "Chimney sweep function" forces the boiler to operate at maximum output for 15 minutes, allowing technicians to check combustion parameters. The boiler also performs a P.C.B. periodical self-check every 18 hours in heating or standby mode, or within 10 minutes after domestic hot water withdrawal.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Dimensions: Height 756 mm, Width 440 mm, Depth 240 mm (for wall-mounted). Recessing kit dimensions: Height 1069 mm, Width 566 mm, Depth 254 mm.

Usage Features:

The boiler's control panel (Fig. 2-1) allows users to:

  • Reset: Using the reset key (1).
  • Select Mode: Choose between stand-by, summer (9), or winter (5) modes using key (2).
  • Adjust Domestic Hot Water Temperature: Use keys (3) and (4) to increase or reduce.
  • Adjust System Water Temperature: Use keys (5) and (6) to increase or reduce in winter mode.
  • Monitor: The display (9) shows temperature and error codes. A manometer (7) indicates system pressure. Symbols indicate domestic hot water function (8), heating mode (11), winter (12), summer (13), output efficiency (14), and flame presence (15).
  • System Filling: The system is filled via the filling valve (Fig. 2-2), ensuring air bubbles are released through boiler and heating system vents.
  • Antifreeze Protection: The boiler has a built-in antifreeze function. For enhanced protection, an optional kit and antifreeze liquid can be used.

Maintenance Features:

  • Periodical Maintenance: Heating plants require periodical maintenance and regular energy efficiency checks as per national, regional, or local provisions. A yearly cleaning and maintenance contract with a zone technician is recommended.
  • Cleaning: The boiler casing should be cleaned with damp cloths and neutral detergent. Abrasive or powder detergents should not be used.
  • Casing Removal: The casing can be removed by pulling the frame (1), loosening front screws (2) and screw fasteners (3) below the casing (4), then pulling the casing (4) towards oneself and up to detach it from upper hooks (Fig. 3-4).
  • Yearly Appliance Check: Includes cleaning the heat exchanger and main burner, checking fume hood for deterioration, verifying correct lighting and operation, ensuring correct burner calibration, checking control and adjustment devices, inspecting for water leaks or oxidation, verifying expansion vessel charge (1.0 bar) and system static pressure (1-1.2 bar), and checking the electrical system's condition and integrity.
  • Troubleshooting: The boiler signals anomalies by flashing error codes on the display (e.g., Ignition block 01, Safety thermostat block 02, Insufficient system pressure 10, Fumes pressure switch failure 11, Parasite flame 20, Insufficient circulation 27). A qualified technician should be contacted for persistent issues.
  • Draining: The system can be drained using the special drain cock (Fig. 1-33), ensuring the filling cock is closed beforehand.
  • Pump Release: If the circulation pump is blocked after prolonged inactivity, the front cap can be unscrewed, and the motor shaft turned with a screwdriver to release it.
  • Gas System Start-up: Involves opening windows and doors, avoiding sparks, bleeding air from pipelines, and checking system sealing.
  • Boiler Start-up (Ignition): Requires checking system sealing, gas type correspondence, correct ignition, gas flow rate and pressure values, safety device engagement, and main switch activation. Initial check by a qualified technician is mandatory for warranty activation.
