Try replacing the sealing ring. * Food debris may be attached to the sealing ring; remove and thoroughly clean it. * The lid might not be closed correctly; open and then close it again. * The sealing ring rack could be warped or off-center. * The inner pot rim may be misshapen.

  If you're having trouble opening the lid of your Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker, it could be due to the following reasons: * There may be pressure inside the multicooker. Release the pressure according to the recipe, and only open the lid after the float valve has dropped down. * The float valve might be stuck in the popped-up position because of food debris or residue. Make sure the steam is completely released by quick releasing the pressure, then gently press the float valve with a long utensil. * Open the lid cautiously, then thoroughly clean the float valve, surrounding area, and lid before the next use. * The contents may be under pressure, do not attempt to force the lid open to avoid scalding injury.

  If steam is gushing from the steam release handle of your Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker when it's in the Sealing position, it could be due to a few reasons: * There might not be enough liquid in the inner pot. Add thin, water-based liquid according to the pot's size: 1 cup for 3 Qt, 1 ½ cups for 6 Qt, or 2 cups for 8 Qt. * The steam release handle might not be seated properly. Turn the steam release handle to the Sealing position.

Why is the float valve not rising on my Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker?

  If the float valve on your Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker isn't rising, consider these possibilities: * There might be food debris on the float valve or its silicone cap. Remove the float valve from the lid and clean it thoroughly. * There might be too little liquid in the inner pot. Check for scorching on the bottom of the inner pot. Add thin, water-based liquid to the inner pot according to its size: 1 cup for 3 Qt, 1 ½ cups for 6 Qt, or 2 cups for 8 Qt. * The float valve silicone cap may be damaged or missing. Install or replace the float valve and/or silicone cap. * The float valve could be obstructed by the lid-locking mechanism. Tap the float valve with a long utensil. * There may be no heat in the inner pot. * The inner pot base may be damaged.
