Additional features of the LAN subsystem include:
• CSMA/CD protocol engine
• LAN connect interface that supports the 82562GZ
• PCI Conventional bus power management

1.9.1 10/100 Mbits/sec LAN Subsystem
The 10/100 Mbits/sec LAN subsystem includes the ICH6, the Intel 82562GZ PLC, and an RJ-45
LAN connector with integrated status LEDs.

The Intel 82562GZ provides the following functions:
• Basic 10/100 Ethernet LAN connectivity
• Full device driver compatibility
• Programmable transit threshold
• Configuration EEPROM that contains the MAC address
1.9.1.2 RJ-45 LAN Connector with Integrated LEDs
Two LEDs are built into the RJ-45 LAN connector (shown in Figure 11).
