Water maintenance and chemicals
26
Please note that chemically treated water that sprays out
when, for example, children are playing, can destroy the lawn
or plants in the vicinity of the pool, and grass under the pool
liner may be damaged.
Never add water treatment products or chemicals to the
pump.
Checking the correct water composition is the most important single factor in increas-
ing the service life and appearance of the liner material and maintaining clear, pure
and healthy water. Checking the pool chemicals regularly and using a pump can
achieve and maintain the optimal water condition.
You can ask your local pool supplier about adding chlorine, algicide and other chem-
icals for cleaning. You can check the water quality with testing products at regular in-
tervals. Follow the instructions of the chemical manufacturer and note the following:
Checking the pH value and the condition of the water every day is very important,
as this helps to maintain the optimal water quality. This check must be carried out
throughout the season, particularly just after the pool has been set up.
1. Open the seal on the chlorine container
12
by turning it anticlockwise.
2. Place the chlorine chemicals (e.g. tablets) inside the chlorine container
11
and
close the seal again.
3. Regulate the release of chlorine into the water by rotating the closure
10
at the
bottom of the chlorine container.
4. Attach a cord to the chlorine container and fix the other end of the cord to the pool
edge.
This allows the chlorine container to drift safely in the water and to be pulled back
in again.
The following principles must be observed when handling chlorine chemicals:
Chlorine must not come into contact with the pool liner before it has dissolved
completely in the water.
Chlorine in the form of granules or tablets must first be dissolved in a container. It
is important to mix liquid chlorine thoroughly with the pool water immediately.
Different chemicals must never be mixed. Always add the chemicals to the pool
water separately and mix them thoroughly before adding other chemicals.
When first filling the pool, the amount of chemicals required is higher and re-
placement of the filter cartridge is necessary more often than in the course of the
season.
Do not allow anyone to swim in the pool while the pH value is being checked.
Always have spare filter cartridges to hand and change them approx. every 2
weeks.
