7.1Controlsprotectionsystem
Thescootercontrolsisfittedwithanoverloadprotection.
Ifthedriveisseverelyoverloadedoveralongperiodoftime(for
example,whendrivingupasteephill)andespeciallywhenthe
ambienttemperatureishigh,theelectronicsystemcouldoverheat.
Inthiscasethescooterperformanceisgraduallyreduceduntilit
comestoahalt.Thestatusdisplayshowsacorrespondingerror
code(referto11.1.2Errorcodesanddiagnosticcodes,page53).By
switchingthepowersupplyoffandbackonagain,theerrorcodeis
clearedandthecontrolsisswitchedbackon.Itcanhowevertakeup
tofiveminutesuntilthecontrolshascooleddownenoughforthe
drivetorestorefullperformanceagain.
Ifthedriveisstalledbyaninsurmountableobstacle,forexample,a
curborsimilarwhichistoohigh,andthedriverattemptsdrivingfor
morethan20secondsagainstthisobstacle,thecontrolsautomatically
switchesofftopreventthemotorsfrombeingdamaged.Thestatus
displayshowsacorrespondingerrorcode(referto11.1.2Error
codesanddiagnosticcodes,page53).Byswitchingoffandbackon
again,theerrorcodeisclearedandthecontrolsisswitchedbackon.
7.1.1Themainfuse
Theentireelectricalsystemisprotectedagainstoverloadbytwomain
fuses.Themainfusesaremountedonthepositivebatterycables.
Adefectivemainfusemaybereplacedonlyafterchecking
theentireelectricalsystem.AspecializedInvacareprovider
mustperformthereplacement.Youcanfindinformationon

7.2Batteries
Powerissuppliedbytwo12Vbatteries.Thebatteriesare
maintenance-freeandonlyneedregularcharging.
Inthefollowing,youfindinformationonhowtocharge,handle,
transport,store,maintain,andusebatteries.
7.2.1Generalinformationoncharging
Newbatteriesshouldalwaysbefullychargedoncebeforetheirfirst
use.Newbatterieswillbeattheirfullcapacityafterhavingrun
throughapprox.10-20chargingcycles(break-inperiod).This
break-inperiodisnecessarytofullyactivatethebatteryformaximum
performanceandlongevity.Thus,rangeandrunningtimeofyour
mobilitydevicecouldinitiallyincreasewithuse.
Gel/AGMleadacidbatteriesdonothaveamemoryeffectasNiCd
batteries.
7.2.2Generalinstructionsoncharging
Followtheinstructionslistedbelowtoensuresafeuseandlongevity
ofthebatteries:
Charge18hourspriortoinitialusage.
Werecommendchargingthebatteriesdailyafterevery
dischargeevenafterpartlydischarge,aswellaseachnightover
night.Dependingonthelevelofdischarge,itcantakeupto12
hoursuntilthebatteriesarefullychargedagain.
WhenthebatteryindicatorreachedtheredLEDrange,charge
thebatteriesfor16hoursminimum,neglectingthecharge
completedisplay!
Trytoprovidea24hourchargeonceaweektomakesurethat
bothbatteriesarefullycharged.
Donotcycleyourbatteriesatalowstateofchargewithout
regularlyrechargingthemfully.
