7.2.7Transportingbatteries
Thebatteriessuppliedwithyourmobilitydevicearenothazardous
goods.ThisclassificationisbasedontheGermanGGVSHazardous
GoodsRoadTransportOrdinances,andtheIATA/DGRHazardous
GoodsRailTransport/AirTransportOrdinances.Batteriesmaybe
transportedwithoutrestrictions,whetherbyroad,railorbyair.
Individualtransportcompanieshave,however,guidelineswhichcan
possiblyrestrictorforbidcertaintransportprocedures.Pleaseask
thetransportcompanyregardingeachindividualcase.
7.2.8Generalinstructionsonhandlingthebatteries
•Nevermixandmatchdifferentbatterymanufacturesor
technologies,orusebatteriesthatdonothavesimilardate
codes.
•NevermixgelwithAGMbatteries.
•Thebatteriesreachtheirendoflifewhenthedriverangeis
significantlysmallerthanusual.Contactyourproviderorservice
technicianfordetails.
•Alwayshaveyourbatteriesinstalledbyaproperlytrained
mobilitydevicetechnicianorapersonwithadequateknowledge.
Theyhavethenecessarytrainingandtoolstodothejobsafely
andcorrectly.
