Check the cable for defectiveness.

Make sure that the power is on and that both, USB 3.0 and 2.0, are recognized. If they are not working

up and hold for 5 seconds to reconnect the USB.

down and hold for 5 seconds to safely remove the USB.
Safe removal of the USB may not work when files on the HDD are in use.
