Calibration
TIGER XTL offers the following calibration options:
• Factory Calibration is set by ION Science Ltd during instrument manufacture or on re-
calibration by an ION Science authorised service centre, for example during an annual
service. Factory Calibration offers a safe set of three-point calibration data. This should be
used if the current custom calibration fails and will keep the unit working until a good
custom calibration is completed. Please contact ION Science Ltd or your local distributor for
further information.
ION Science Ltd recommends annual servicing and calibrations for users who require
traceable calibration records. During this service, the Lamp and MiniPID 2 Sensor are
brought back to factory specifications and new Factory Calibration data is loaded.
• Custom Calibration is performed by the instrument user and should be carried out as part of
regular instrument maintenance. Before doing so, first set up the calibration parameters in
Tiger LT PC.
TIGER XTL scales its linear output across a Zero level (clean air reference) and the SPAN 1
user-defined gas concentration. Due to the linear output of the ION Science MiniPID 2
Sensor, a two-point calibration is often adequate.
Custom Calibration
Before proceeding, ensure the calibration parameters are set in Tiger LT PC.
Have the cylinder(s) of gas, regulator(s) and a Carbon Filter ready, if using, before starting the
procedure. Alternatively, a known clean air supply may be used as the Zero gas. Demand flow
regulators are recommended for the calibration of the TIGER XTL. If flow regulators are to be used
then a 0.3l/min is recommended, a flow adaptor should be used to avoid over-pressurising the
instrument (sold separately). Please ensure you are familiar with the entire calibration procedure
before attempting to calibrate your TIGER XTL.
