Purpose and scope
The purpose of this guide is to describe how to connect to a SmartClass E1
Tester and control it remotely, over the serial interface, using the SCPI (Stan-
dard Commands for Programmable Instruments) command set.
The SCPI command set enables programmers to develop control programs for
a variety of remote control applications, for example, running a BERT for a
specified time period.
Assumptions
This guide is intended for experienced users who want to use the SmartClass
E1Tester effectively and efficiently. We are assuming that you have basic
computer experience and are familiar with basic telecommunication concepts,
terminology, and safety.
