423) Some commercial additives for
windscreen washer fluid are flammable.
The engine compartment contains hot
components which may start a fire.
424) Brake fluid is poisonous and highly
corrosive. In the event of accidental
contact, immediately wash the affected
parts with water and mild soap.
Then rinse thoroughly. Call a doctor
immediately if swallowed.
425) The symbol
, on the brake fluid
container indicates if a brake fluid
is synthetic or mineralbased. Use of
mineral type fluids will damage the
special rubber seals of the braking system
beyond repair.
426) Using the conventional battery with
insufficient battery fluid may irreparably
damage the battery and may cause an
explosion.
427) Always protect your eyes with
special glasses when working on or near a
conventional battery.
428) Batteries contain substances which
are very harmful for the environment. For
conventional battery replacement, contact
a Jeep Dealership.
429) The electrolyte solution contained
in the conventional battery is extremely
corrosive and can cause burns and
serious eye injuries. Avoid contact with
eyes, skin or clothing. Do not lean your
face close to the conventional battery
during connection. Wash the affected
area immediately with plenty of water in
the event of accidental contact of the
electrolyte with the eyes or skin. For more
information, please refer to "Jump starting
procedures" in "In case of emergency".
430) The gas developed by the
conventional battery is flammable and
explosive. Thus keep away flames or
devices which may cause sparks. Do not
use a battery or other auxiliary power
source that supplies more than 12
V. Avoid any contact between cable
terminals.
431) Conventional battery terminals as
well as accessories connected to them
contain lead and lead compounds. Wash
your hands thoroughly after any work on
the conventional battery.
432) The conventional battery fluid is
poisonous and corrosive. Avoid contact
with the skin and eyes. Keep open flames
away from the conventional battery and
do not use objects that might create
sparks: risk of explosion and fire.
433) If the car must remain unused for
a long time at a very low temperature,
remove the conventional battery and take
it to a warm place, to avoid freezing.
434) Always wear appropriate goggles to
protect your eyes when working on or near
the conventional battery.
WARNING
136) Used transmission oil contains
substances that may be dangerous for the
environment. It is advisable to contact
a Jeep Dealership to have the fluid
changed.
137) Be careful not to confuse the various
types of fluids while topping up: they are
not compatible with one another! Topping
up with an unsuitable fluid could severely
damage your vehicle.
138) The oil level must never exceed the
MAX mark.
139) Always top up using engine oil of the
same specifications as that already in the
engine.
140) PARAFLU
UP
protective antifreeze is
used in the engine cooling system. Use
the same type of fluid currently in the
cooling system when you top up fluid
levels. PARAFLU
UP
fluid may not be
mixed with any other type of fluid. If this
happens, do not start the engine under
any circumstances and contact a Jeep
Dealership.
141) Prevent brake fluid, which is highly
corrosive, from coming into contact
with painted parts. Should it happen,
immediately wash with water.
142) The cables of the electrical system
must be correctly reconnected to the
conventional battery, i.e. the positive
cable to the positive terminal and the
negative cable to the negative terminal.
The conventional battery terminals are
marked with the positive (+) and negative
(-) terminal symbols, and are shown on
the cover of the conventional battery. The
battery terminals must also be corrosion-
free and firmly secured to the terminals.
143) If a quick conventional battery
charger is used with the battery fitted on
the car, before connecting it disconnect
both cables of the conventional battery
itself. Do not use a quick battery charger
to provide the starting voltage.
