Appendix 3: Pipe Expanding Method
NOTE: Improper pipe expanding is the main cause of refrigerant
leakage. Please expand the pipe according to the following steps:
a. Cut the pipe
S Confirm the pipe length according to the distance of the
indoor and outdoor units.
S Cut the required pipe with a pipe cutter.

b. Remove the burrs
S Remove the burrs with a shaper and prevent the burrs from
entering the pipe.
c. Put on a suitable insulating pipe.

d. Put on the union nut.
S Remove the union nut on the indoor connection pipe and
outdoor valve; install the union nut on the pipe.

e. Expand the port.
S Expand the port with an expander.
NOTE: “A” is different according to the diameter, refer to Table 37.

f. Inspection
S Check the quality of the expanding port. If there is any
blemish, expand the port again according to the steps above.
