the CA8WL-AL and the server/workstation with the Keyscan communication service software
the CA8WL-AL and the PIM400-485
CA8WL-AL to Server/Workstation
The CA8WL-AL control unit supports the following modes of communication to the server/workstation with the
Aurora communication service:
Serial RS-232
USB (USB 1.1 & USB 2.0 supported) / RS-232
Network (TCP/IP)
Network (TCP/IP) Communication
If the CA8WL-AL is connected on a network, ensure that you review either Program On-board Ethernet
Module on page 33 or Configure CA8WL-AL for Reverse Network Communication on page 37. Before the
CA8WL-AL can become operational on a network, it must be programmed using the procedures outlined in
one of the aforementioned topics.
The CA8WL-AL requires NETCOM Program Utility version 6.0.18 or higher. Always use the latest
NETCOM Program Utility on the enclosed Keyscan CD when programming the on-board Ethernet module.
CA8WL-AL to PIM400-485
The CA8WL-AL connects to the PIM400-485 unit as follows:
RS485 CAT5 1 twisted pair to a maximum of 4000 feet or 1219 metres
Single Control Unit Communication Only
The CA8WL-AL is designed as a single, stand-alone control unit; it does not support CIM, CB-485 or CPB-10-2
connections to other control units. The CA8WL-AL does not support input and output functions.
Supported Number of Wireless Locks
Each CA8WL-AL / PIM400-485 kit supports a maximum of eight (8) integrated AD-400 wireless locks. If more
AD-400 wireless locks are required, add a CA8WL-AL / PIM400-485 kit for each multiple of eight (8) wireless
