Using Avionics VOR/ILS Softkeys for N5171B/72B and N5181B/82B with Option 302
Using VOR [VHF Omnidirectional Range] Softkeys
a. Press SubCarrier Freq
(Default <value> is 9960 Hz.)
b. (Optional) Select a <value> from 0 Hz to 20 kHz.
9. Set the sub-carrier AM depth that modulates the VOR carrier.
a. Press SubCarrier Depth
(Default <value> is 30%.)
b. (Optional) Select a <value> from 0 to 49.9% and press Enter.
10.Set the VOR mode to produce a full VOR signal.
a. Press Aux Fctn > Avionics > VOR
b. Press VOR Mode
(Default selection is OFF.)
c. Select NORM to turn on all VOR signals so that a standard VOR
signal is generated with a default VOR Bearing of zero degrees.
11.Set modulation to on.
a. Press MOD On and verify that the front panel LED is illuminated,
indicating that it is on.
(Default is on).
12.Set a desired RF power level.
a. Press Amptd
(Default power level is around -144 dBm, and depends on the signal
generator model being used, so the signal may be very low and hard
to find if you do not specify a high enough power level.)
b. Select a <value> from -20 dBm to -40 dBm.
13.Set RF output to on.
a. Press RF On and verify that the front panel LED is illuminated,
indicating that it is on.
(Default is off).
14.Verify that all settings are as expected on the signal generator display.
a. Press Aux Fctn > Avionics > VOR
