Using COM/ID Softkeys
Example of Setting All COM/ID Parameters
1. Press Preset to place the signal generator in a known preset state.
2. Set the COM/ID type to Code.
a. Press Aux Fctn > Avionics > VOR
b. Press COM/ID
c. Press COM/ID Type
(Default setting is Code.)
d. Select Code
3. Set the COM/ID 3-character code (airport identification code).
a. Press COM/ID Code
(Default 3-character code is STS.)
b. (Optional) Select a 3-character code and select Enter.
To find a valid COM/ID code (airport communication identification
code) for a particular area, refer to the following websites:
Airline Coding Directory (http://www.iata.org)
AirNav (http://www.airnav.com)
4. Set the COM/ID tone/code modulating frequency.
a. Press Frequency
(Default <value> is 1.02000 kHz.)
b. (Optional) Select a <value> from 0 Hz to 20 kHz.
5. Set the COM/ID tone AM depth.
a. Press Depth
(Default <value> is 10%.)
b. (Optional) Select a <value> from 0 to 49.9% and press Enter.
6. Set the COM/ID mode to on.
a. Press COM/ID
(Default is COM/ID Off.)
b. Select COM/ID On
7. Set modulation to on.
a. Press MOD On and verify that the front panel LED is illuminated,
indicating that it is on.
(Default is on).
8. Set a desired RF power level.
