Instructions for Use
Electrosurgical Unit Minicutter
26 Revision 08
Danger of burns from defective active electrodes!
Active electrodes with insulation defects pose danger of burns for patient and user. Therefore, please note:
Active electrodes, their sockets and lines must be examined for defects of the insulation before being
connected.
Do not lay the leads to the active electrode over the patient, nor over the patient leads of other
electro-medical devices.
If currents with high output voltage are to be used, it must be made sure that the accessories
combined with the active electrode are up to the potential voltage.
Application of a current with high voltage, and in particular of a monopolar high voltage coagulation
current, may cause neuromuscular stimulation in the patient.
Risk of electromagnetic interference with physiological monitoring devices!
When simultaneously using electrosurgery and monitors on the same patient, use only monitoring
electrodes whose leads comprise protective resistors or HF reactors. Needle electrodes must not be
used for monitoring.
The active electrode must not be used near sensor electrodes of monitors (e.g. ECG electrodes).
Please keep a distance of at least 15 cm (6″).
Upon use of incompatible active electrodes, no warning signal is sounded.
The high-frequency power should be set to the lowest possible setting for the respective application.
An insufficient effect while using the standard setting can, for example, be caused by poorly applied
neutral electrodes, insufficient contact in plug connection, cables that are damaged under the
insulation or encrusted electrodes. This must be checked, and any defective parts must be replaced.
