Operator messages
Error messages are classified into series of a hundred
depending on the method of recovery from the error. The
error message series and methods of recovery are listed
below:
E100–199 Operator Information and Warnings; no action
required but the operator may be asked to
verify input or re-input data if required; the
system administrator may be required for host
control. If the error message persists, the
system administrator should call service.
E200–299 Operator Recoverable Errors; the operator
must perform the action specified by the error
message and error code listing; the system
administrator may be required for host control.
If the error message persists, the system
administrator should call service.
E600–999 Service Errors; the operator must contact the
system administrator; initial error recovery may
be performed by the system administrator but
a service representative may also be required
to complete the recovery.
