7. CALIFORNIA AND FEDERAL EMISSION CONTROLWARRANTY STATEMENT, OFF-ROAD & MARINE DIESEL ENGINES (USA ONLY)
The California air resources board (carb), U.S. environmental protection agency (EPA), and Kohler Co. are pleased to explain the emission control system warranty on your [current
model year – {2+ current model year}] off-road compression ignition and marine (diesel) engine. In California (“the state”) and US EPA regulated region, new heavy-duty off-road &
marine engines must be designed, built and equipped to meet the state’s and US EPA anti-smog standards. The warranty period shall begin on the date the engine or equipment
is delivered to an ultimate purchaser. Kohler Co. must warrant the emission control system on your engine for the periods of time listed in the section below, provided there has
been no abuse, neglect or improper maintenance of your engine.
Your emission control system may include parts such as the fuel injection system and the air-induction system. Also included maybe hoses, belts, connectors and other emission
related assemblies.
When a warrantable condition exists, Kohler Co. will repair your heavy-duty off-road & marine engine at no cost to you including diagnosis, parts and labor.
The owner shall not be charged for diagnostic labor that leads to the determination that a warranted part is in fact defective, provided that such diagnostic work is performed at
a warranty station.
MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY COVERAGE:
The [Current model year – {2+ Current model year}] heavy-duty off-road & marine engines are warranted for the periods listed below. If any emission-related part on your engine is
defective, the part will be repaired or replaced by Kohler Co.
Variable speed or constant speed kW <19 Any speed 1,500 hours or two years, whichever comes first.
Constant speed 19 ≤kW <37 3,000 rpm or higher 1,500 hours or two years, whichever comes first.
Constant speed 19 ≤kW <37 Less than 3,000 rpm 3,000 hours or five years, whichever comes first.
Variable speed 19 ≤kW <37 Any speed 3,000 hours or five years, whichever comes first.
Variable speed or constant speed kW ≥37 Any speed 3,000 hours or five years, whichever comes first.
MARINE DIESEL ENGINE
ENGINE POWER WARRANTY PERIOD
kW < 19 1,500 hours or 2.5 years, whichever comes first.
19 ≤ kW < 37 2,500 hours or 3.5 years, whichever comes first.
37 ≤ kW < 75 5,000 hours or 5 years, whichever comes first.
