3.5 Working near electric overhead lines
When working on electric overhead lines, maintain the following safety distances.
These safety distances prevent contact with swinging line cables and ensure that
workers using tools, etc. have sufcient room for movement. Safety distances
according to VDE 0105-100.
Safety distance 1 m for rated voltages up to 1000 V
Safety distance 3 m for rated voltages from 1 kV to 110 kV
Safety distance 4 m for rated voltages from 110 kV to 220 kV
Safety distance 5 m for rated voltages from 200 kV to 380 kV
If these safety distances cannot be maintained, contact the operator of the overhead
line to arrange for a shut down. Also ensure that the system is protected against
inadvertent switching on while work is being carried out.
