– Push the outer tube upward.
– Clamp the fork leg in the area of the lower triple clamp.

– Turn the adjusting screw of rebound damping bo and the adjusting screw of
compression damping bp clockwise all the way.

– Turn the adjusting screws to the position they were in before dismantling.
6.13 Checking the steering head bearing play

– Adjust the steering head bearing play without delay.

If the bike is ridden with play in the steering head bearing, the bearing and the bearing seats in the frame can become dam-
aged over time.
Preparatory work
– Raise the motorcycle with the work stand. ( p. 11)
– Push down the rear of vehicle, tighten it down in this position, and secure the
motorcycle against falling over.
The front wheel is no longer in contact with the ground and the fork legs are no
longer under tension.
