Using the Printer

Print quality Resolution (dpi) Print speed Description
Quick Colour 600 × 600 4.7 ppm This mode provides fastest full
colour printing. Since the printer
uses only CMY toners, it is not
suitable for documents including
large amount of black text. This
mode is not available when the
Colour mode is Monochrome.
Normal 600 × 600 Colour: 3.5 ppm, This mode covers a wide range of
Monochrome: generic colour printing.
14 ppm
Fine 1200 × 1200 Colour: 1.75 This mode requires a minimum
ppm, memory of 16 MB (otherwise, the
Monochrome: printer prints in Normal mode).
7 ppm The print quality is the highest
and near photographic quality.
This mode is disabled in HP
PCL5C emulation.
Presentation 600 × 600 Colour: 1.75 This mode is not selectable on the
ppm, front control panel. The printer
Monochrome: automatically selects this mode
7 ppm when the paper type of the cur-
rent paper source is not normal
paper. This mode is designed for
overhead projection transparen-
cies.
Colour matching
The Colour matching menu provides four colour matching functions to accurately
represent the original colour by giving different rendering intents.

Vivid Colour
Display

Colour matching mode Description
None No matching is made to any colour.
Vivid Colour This reproduces the birightest possible colours.
Display This adjusts the colour to the closest of the colours on a
standard display monitor.
Auto This automatically applies the Vivid Colour or
Display mode of colour matching to the contents of the
page to print.
