Overview

The KEW SNAP 2002PA and 2002R are digital clamp meters designed for safe and accurate electrical measurements. These instruments adhere to IEC Publication 61010 safety requirements for electronic measuring apparatus, specifically Measurement Categories CAT. III 600V and CAT. II 1000V, with a pollution degree of 2. They are equipped with double or reinforced insulation for enhanced safety.

Function Description:

These clamp meters are primarily used for measuring AC current, AC voltage, DC voltage, and resistance. The KEW SNAP 2002R model offers true-RMS readings for AC current and voltage, which is particularly useful for distorted waveforms, ensuring greater accuracy compared to conventional average-sensing clamp meters.

Current Measurement:

The devices offer a wide measuring range for AC current, from 0 to 2000A.

  • KEW SNAP 2002PA:
    • 400A range: 0 to 400.0 A with 0.1 A resolution. Accuracy: ±1.0%rdg±3dgt (50/60Hz), ±2.0%rdg±3dgt (40~1 kHz). Continuous measurement.
    • 2000A range: 0 to 1000 A with 1 A resolution. Accuracy: ±1.0%rdg±3dgt (50/60Hz). 1000 to 1500 A with 1 A resolution. Accuracy: ±3.0%rdg±3dgt (40~1 kHz). Maximum measurement time: 15 minutes. 1500 to 2000 A with 1 A resolution. Accuracy: ±3.0%rdg (50/60Hz). Maximum measurement time: 5 minutes.
  • KEW SNAP 2002R (True RMS):
    • 400A range: 0 to 400.0 A with 0.1 A resolution. Accuracy: ±1.5%rdg±3dgt (45~65Hz), ±2.5%rdg±3dgt (40~1kHz). Continuous measurement.
    • 2000A range: 0 to 1000 A with 1 A resolution. Accuracy: ±2.0%rdg±5dgt (45~65Hz), ±3.0%rdg±5dgt (40~1kHz). Maximum measurement time: 15 minutes. 1500 to 2000 A with 1 A resolution. Accuracy: ±4.0%rdg (50/60Hz). Maximum measurement time: 5 minutes. Both models feature a peak hold function that measures current variations as short as 10 msec. The peak current value displayed is the crest value divided by the square root of two, which equals the RMS value for sinusoidal currents.

Voltage Measurement:

The instruments provide auto-ranging for both AC and DC voltage measurements.

  • AC Voltage (~V) Auto-ranging:
    • 40V range: 0 to 40.00 V with 0.01 V resolution. Accuracy: ±1.0%rdg±2dgt (50/60Hz) for 2002PA, ±1.0%rdg±2dgt (45~65Hz) for 2002R.
    • 400V range: 15.0 to 400.0 V with 0.1 V resolution. Accuracy: ±1.5%rdg±3dgt (40~1 kHz).
    • 750V range: 150 to 750 V with 1 V resolution.
    • Input impedance is approximately 1 MΩ.
  • DC Voltage (V) Auto-ranging:
    • 40V range: 0 to ±40.00 V with 0.01 V resolution.
    • 400V range: ±15.0 to ±400.0 V with 0.1 V resolution.
    • 1000V range: ±150 to ±1000 V with 1 V resolution.
    • Accuracy: ±1.0%rdg±2dgt.
    • Input impedance is approximately 1 MΩ.

Resistance Measurement:

Auto-ranging is also available for resistance measurements, along with a continuity check function.

  • Resistance (Auto-ranging):
    • 400Ω range: 0 to 400.0 Ω with 0.1 Ω resolution.
    • 4kΩ range: 0.150 to 4.000 kΩ with 1 Ω resolution.
    • 40kΩ range: 1.50 to 40.00 kΩ with 10 Ω resolution.
    • 400kΩ range: 15.0 to 400.0 kΩ with 100 Ω resolution.
    • Accuracy: ±1.5%rdg±2dgt.
  • Continuity Check: Fixed to the 400 Ω range. A buzzer beeps when the reading is not more than 50 ± 35 Ω.

Output for Recorder:

Both models provide a DC voltage output proportional to the input current on the "~400A" or "~2000A" range, allowing for current variation recording with a chart recorder or other recording device.

  • Output voltage: 1mV/A on the "~400A" range and 0.1mV/A on the "~2000A" range.
  • Output impedance: approximately 10kΩ.
