7. Troubleshooting
First, the current status of processing the running program is determined.
This includes:
• Determiningthestepnumber.
• Reagentofthestep(reagentintheretort).
• Safereagentforthisstep.
• Statusofthestep(lling,processing,draining).
• Whetherthesafereagenthasalreadybeenusedintheprogram.
• Reagentofthenextstep.
• Thesystemcheckswhetherthelastsafereagentusedintheprogramispossibleasasafestate
(compatibility).
• Thissafereagentisthenlledintotheretortandtheprogramstepcounteriscorrected.In
doing so, a search is carried out from the current program step going backwards until a safe
reagent program step.
(It is also possible to proceed to the next step if the current step was completed and a safe
reagent is present in the next program step.)
After the actions described, the ASP6025 (and thus the specimens as well) is in a safe state.
The tissue samples are in a safe reagent and the currently running program is modied such that
when the power supply is restored, the processing can be resumed.
The software now carries out a controlled shutdown of the system.
The instrument remains in this state until the power supply is restored. It then restarts automati-
cally.
The end time of the protocol is recalculated, the power failure entered into the Run Logs and the
operator is notied of these using a display.
