Whileitisimportanttoprotectles,data,andsettingsthatareontheharddiskdriveorsolidstatedrive,
youalsomightneedtoinstallanewoperatingsystem,installnewdevicedrivers,updateyoursystemUEFI
BIOS,orrecoverpreinstalledsoftware.Thisinformationwillhelpyouhandleyourcomputerwithproper
careandkeepitintopworkingshape.

Installinganewoperatingsystem
Ifyouinstallanewoperatingsysteminyourcomputer,youneedtoinstallthesupplementlesanddevice
driversforitatthesametime.Thenecessarylesarelocatedinthefollowingdirectoriesofyoursolid
statedriveorharddiskdrive:
•ThesupplementlesfortheoperatingsystemsupportedareintheC:\SWTOOLS\OSFIXESdirectory.
•ThedevicedriversfortheoperatingsystemsupportedareintheC:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERSdirectory.
•ThepreloadedsoftwareapplicationsareintheC:\SWTOOLS\APPSdirectory.
Notas:
•Theprocessofinstallingthenewoperatingsystemdeletesallthedataonyourharddiskdrive.
•Ifyoucannotndthesupplementles,thedevicedrivers,andapplicationsoftwareyouneedonyour
harddiskdrive,orifyouwanttoreceiveupdatesandthelatestinformationaboutthem,goto:

Beforeyoubegin
Beforeyouinstalltheoperatingsystem,dothefollowing:
•CopyallthesubdirectoriesandlesintheC:\SWTOOLSdirectorytoaremovablestoragedevice,toavoid
losinglesduringtheinstallation.
•Printtheinstructionsyouwilluse.
Notas:
–TheUEFIBIOSfeaturesaresupportedontheWindows7operatingsystem(64-bit)andtheWindows
8operatingsystem(64-bit).
–BesuretosetapreferredsettingfortheUEFI/LegacyBootoptioninLenovoSetup.
–Afterinstallingthenewoperationsystem,youshouldnotchangetheinitialUEFI/LegacyBootsetting
inLenovoSetup.TheUEFI/LegacyBootsettingmustbethesameasitwaswhentheWindows
operatingsystemimagewasinstalled.Otherwise,thenewoperatingsystemwillnotbootproperly.
