Theservercomeswithatleastonemicroprocessor.Ifmorethanonemicroprocessorisinstalled,theserver
canoperateasasymmetricmultiprocessing(SMP)server.Youmighthavetoupgradetheoperatingsystem
tosupportSMP.Formoreinformation,seetheoperating-systemdocumentation.
IftheserverhasanoptionalRAIDcontrollerandyouhaveinstalledorremovedaharddiskdrive,seethe
documentationthatcomeswiththeRAIDcontrollerforinformationaboutreconguringthediskarrays.
Turningofftheserver
Whenyouturnofftheserverandleaveitconnectedtoacpower,theservercanrespondtorequeststo
theserviceprocessor,suchasaremoterequesttoturnontheserver.Whiletheserverremainsconnected
toacpower,oneormorefansmightcontinuetorun.Toremoveallpowerfromtheserver,youmust
disconnectitfromthepowersource.
Someoperatingsystemsrequireanorderlyshutdownbeforeyouturnofftheserver.Seeyour
operating-systemdocumentationforinformationaboutshuttingdowntheoperatingsystem.

CAUTION:
Thepowercontrolbuttononthedeviceandthepowerswitchonthepowersupplydonotturnoff
theelectricalcurrentsuppliedtothedevice.Thedevicealsomighthavemorethanonepower
cord.T oremoveallelectricalcurrentfromthedevice,ensurethatallpowercordsaredisconnected
fromthepowersource.
Theservercanbeturnedoffinanyofthefollowingways:
•Youcanturnofftheserverfromtheoperatingsystem,ifyouroperatingsystemsupportsthisfeature.After
anorderlyshutdownoftheoperatingsystem,theserverwillturnoffautomatically.
•Youcanpressthepowerbuttontostartanorderlyshutdownoftheoperatingsystemandturnoffthe
server,ifyouroperatingsystemsupportsthisfeature.
•Iftheoperatingsystemstopsfunctioning,youcanpressandholdthepowerbuttonformorethanfour
secondstoturnofftheserver.
•TheservercanbeturnedoffbytheShutdownonLANfeature.
•Theintegratedmanagementmodule(IMM)canturnofftheserverasanautomaticresponsetoacritical
systemfailure.
