whichthebatterycardassemblyisinstalled.Alwaysgroundyourselfanduseagroundstrapbefore
touchingthebatterycardassemblyorthe8708EM2SASRAIDadapter.Performtheinstallationprocedure
atanESD-safeworkstation.
•WhenattachingthebatterycardassemblytoaPCIExpressslot,centerthePhillips-headscrewdriverto
avoiddamagingthescrewheadanddonotover-tightenthescrewsasyoumightdamagethebattery
cardassembly.
•Thebatteryinthebatterycardassemblymustrechargeforatleastsixhoursduringfastchargeunder
normaloperatingconditions.
•Thetemperatureofthebatterycardassemblyisgenerally15-20degreeshigherthantheambient
temperatureduringfastcharge.Therefore,tocompleteafastchargecycle,theambienttemperature
shouldbelessthan45degrees.Iftheambienttemperatureexceeds45degrees,thefastchargecyclewill
terminateprematurely,thuspreventingthebatterycardassemblyfromreachingafullychargedstate.
Thebatterycardassemblymountsdirectlytothe8708EM2SASRAIDcontrollerusingasmallboard-to-board
connector.Toinstallthebatterycardassemblyforthe8708EM2SASRAIDcontroller,dothefollowing:
1.Removethebatterycardassemblyfromthepackage.
2.Insertthebatterypackharness(asshownin“Topview”onpage66)intothe5-pinJ4batterypack
harnessconnector(asshownin“Bottomview”onpage66)onthebacksideofthebatterycard
assembly.
3.Withthe8708EM2SASRAIDcontrolleronaat,clean,andstatic-freesurface,holdthebatterycard
assemblywiththebatterysideupandtheJ5board-to-boardconnector(asshownin“Bottomview”
onpage66)liningupwiththeJ10BBU(batterybackupunits)connectoronthe8708EM2SASRAID
controller,asshown:
