any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
Remove the 7mm drive cage
Follow instructions in this section to remove the 7mm drive cage.
About this task
Attention:
• Go over “Installation Guidelines” on page 107 to ensure that you work safely.
• Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables (see
“Power off the server” on page 12).
• If the server is installed in a rack, slide the server out on its rack slide rails to gain access to the top cover,
or remove the server from the rack.

Procedure
Step 1. Make preparations for this task.
a. If drives or fillers have been installed, remove them (see “Remove a 7mm drive” on page 115).
b. Remove the top cover (see “Remove the top cover” on page 214).
c. Disconnect the cables from the 7mm drive cage.
d. Remove the PCIe riser assembly in riser zone 1 (see “Remove the PCIe riser assembly from
zone 1” on page 158).
Step 2. Remove the 7mm drive cage from the riser.
