• If the server is installed in a rack, slide the server out on its rack slide rails to gain access to the top cover,
or remove the server from the rack.

Procedure
Step 1. Make preparations for this task.
a. Remove the top cover (see “Remove the top cover” on page 214).
b. Remove the PCIe riser assembly in riser zone 1 (see “Remove the PCIe riser assembly from
zone 1” on page 158).
c. Remove the PCIe riser assembly in riser zone 2 (see “Remove the PCIe riser assembly from
zone 2” on page 158).
Step 2. Disconnect the cable from the system board.
Step 3. Grasp the switch, and pull to remove it from the seat.

After this task is completed
• Install a replacement unit (see “Install the intrusion switch” on page 146).
• If you are instructed to return the component or optional device, follow all packaging instructions, and use
any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
