• Install a replacement unit (see “Install the processor and memory expansion tray” on page 194) or the
system board air baffle (see “Install the system board air baffle” on page 201).
• If you are instructed to return the component or optional device, follow all packaging instructions, and use
any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
• If you plan to recycle the system board, follow the instructions in “Disassemble the processor and memory
expansion tray for recycle” on page 193 for compliance with local regulations.

Follow the instructions in this section to disassemble the processor and memory expansion tray before
recycle.
About this task
Attention:
• Go over “Installation Guidelines” on page 107 to ensure that you work safely.
• Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables (see
“Power off the server” on page 12).
• If the server is installed in a rack, slide the server out on its rack slide rails to gain access to the top cover,
or remove the server from the rack.

Procedure
Step 1. Make preparations for this task.
a. Remove the processor and memory expansion tray from the server (see “Remove the
processor and memory expansion tray” on page 190).
b. Refer to local environmental, waste or disposal regulations to ensure compliance.
Step 2. Remove the following components as illustrated:
• Nine slotted screws
• Two standoffs (with 12 mm wrench)
