The monitoring process is activated if a short circuit occurs in the motor phases. This can
also be caused by an interturn fault in the machine.
ƒ Monitoring can also be actuated at mains connection, if an earth fault occurs.
ƒ If monitoring is actuated, the drive controller has to be disconnected from the
mains, and the short circuit has to be eliminated.

The ECSxS... axis module is equipped with a standard earth fault detection.
ƒ If monitoring is actuated, the drive controller has to be disconnected from the
mains, and the earth fault has to be eliminated.
Possible causes of an earth fault are:
ƒ Short circuit to frame of the machine
ƒ Short circuit of a phase to the shield
ƒ Short circuit of a phase to PE
