6.5. INITIAL START UP
• All requirements are fulfilled as on point 6.4
• Cylinder regulator is depressurized, handwheel turned completely to left side
• When using corrosive and/or toxic gases with stainless steel cylinder regulator version TP, TPA, TPB, EP,
EPA or EPB external gas purging needs to take place before initial startup (see point 6.5.2).
WARNING!
• Make sure the cylinder regulator is not exposed to pressure levels that exceed their respective permissible
nominal pressure.
6.5.1. FILL THE PROCESS GAS TUBING WITH PROCESS GAS
Adjust pressure with handwheel turning clockwise. Cylinder Regulator is now in operation.
6.5.2. CYLINDER CHANGE
When using corrosive and/or toxic gases with stainless steel cylinder regulator version TP, TPA, TPB, EP, EPA
or EPB external/ inert gas purging needs to take place before cylinder change.
NOTE!
For external purge gas use dry, clean gas. We recommend using purge gas with a quality according to your
application.
WARNING!
• During changing gas cylinders with toxic or corrosive gas consider personal safety provisions (breathing
protection, eye protection, protective clothes).
• Consider MAK-values (see technical rules for hazardous material, TRGS 900), choose correct respirator
filter.
DANGER!
• If the cylinder regulator is used with toxic and/ or corrosive gases, the component have to be purged with
inert purge gas (external gas purging with triple purge block). Therewith dangerous rest gas is removed
through purge gas tubing.
PREPARATION
1. Close cylinder valve
2. Empty pressure regulator, inlet and outlet gauge have to show „0“
3. Turn handwheel of pressure regulator anti clockwise all the way to stop, pressure regulator is closed
4. Close outlet shut o or regulating valve, if existent
5. Process Gas Purging, Discharge Process or External gas Purging for the following version:
TP, TPA, TPB, EP, EPA or EPB, DP
PROCESS GAS PURGING/ DISCHARGE PROCESS
Cylinder regulator with high pressure purge valve (P), or cylinder regulator with downstream purge valve (DP).
Check if purge gas tubing is installed properly. Open and close purge valve to discharge cylinder connection.
EXTERNAL GAS PURGING
Purge process cylinder regulator with triple purge block (EP, EPA, EPB)
A Check, if purge gas inlet, purge gas outlet and process gas inlet are mounted properly.
B Close all valves. The valves at triple purge block must be transverse to tubing. Red marking is visible on
the other valves.
C Close pressure regulator by turning the handwheel anti clockwise.
D Open external purge valve inlet
E Close external purge valve inlet. Gas should stay a few seconds inside triple purge block.
F Open external purge valve outlet for very short time to release purge gas through purge gas tubing.
G Close external purge valve outlet.
Repeat point D-G 10 times for optimal purge result.
