Starting the engine
Depending on the type of engine and the ambient tempera-
tures, various start procedures are possible.
CAUTION!
Material damage!
If you try to start the engine too many times within
a short period, you might damage the starter and the
battery.
X Allow 1 to 2 minutes between start attempts.
X Never try to start the engine again before it has come
to a complete standstill.
To start the engine the following conditions have to be met.
z The main battery switch needs to be switched on.
z The swivel seat needs to be locked into one of the two end
positions or in the entry position.
z The gear shift lever for the transmission must be in the
“NEUTRAL” position.

The engine is equipped with a fuel preheater. Turn on the fuel
preheater in winter. There is no need for the fuel preheater in
summer.
0 OFF (all electrical loads are off, ignition key can be withdrawn).
I MT ready for operation (ignition is on, electrical loads such as
radio and two-way radio are on).
II Preheats the intake air.
III Activates the starter
