Fifth wheel coupling <Sattel>
The fifth wheel coupling of the MT can, in case of emergency,
also be unhitched without running engine and without electric-
ity, using the emergency hitch release.
The emergency hitch release is located to the right of the fifth
wheel coupling.
DANGER!
Danger of injury!
There is a danger of crushing of body parts when
unhitching the fifth wheel coupling in an emergency.
X Make sure that nobody is near the trailer.
X Make sure that the trailer is lowered fully onto its
supports and secured against rolling away.

Releasing the emergency hitch
X Set the trailer down on its supports.
X Secure the trailer against rolling away.
X Disconnect all electrical and brake lines,
see “Unhitching” on page 116.
X Relieve the fifth wheel coupling or the king-pin.
The MT needs to be pushed back slightly against the
king-pin by another vehicle.
X Mount the pump lever on the emergency hitch release.
The pump lever is in the pneumatics compartment.
X Open the fifth wheel coupling at the emergency hitch
release.
X Drive or tow the MT forwards.
