6.8 ND filter test
Neutral density filter test is used for monitoring changes of the sensitivity of the optical
system. Test consists of measurement of optical attenuation of 4 different neutral density
filters. The slope of the linear fit between of measured attenuations versus default attenuation
is a measure of sensitivity: if the slope differs more than 10% from unity, the test fails.
To perform the test you need a ND filter-set: AE-33-ND-XXXX. On Operation/General screen
select “ND test” and follow the instructions on screen. At the end of the test you will get the
test results on screen. Measurement results and slopes are also reported in the Aethalometer
log file.
Note: Do NOT remove filter tape from its normal position when performing ND filter test.
6.9 Inlet leakage test
Inlet leakage test is used for control of the inlet manifold. In case inlet is outdoor, the test will
show any leakage trough whole system.
The procedure takes two input values from external flowmeter. One taken at the instrument
inlet, and the other at the outdoor inlet.
Inlet leakage test is using calibration pad.
To perform the Inlet leakage test, select Operation/General/InletLeakage Test and follow the
instruction on screen. Leakage test is marked by status 6144. After the test the report is
generated:
