2.4.4. Lubricating Oil
1. Specication:
Textron Lycoming Service Instruction No. 1014M stipulates that all turbocharged engines must
be broken-in and operated on ashless dispersant oil only. Under no circumstances use straight
mineral oil in the TIO-540-AH1A engine.
Any brand of ashless dispersant oil can be used provided it conforms to MIL-L-22851 or
SAEJ1899 specications (Textron Lycoming Specication No. 301F).

2. Viscosity Grade:
The following chart is intended to assist in choosing the correct grade of oil and must be
considered as a guide only. Multiviscosity grades can also be used as indicated. Refer to
Lycoming Service Instruction No. 1014 for further details.
