Glossary
Alarm Option Factory installed option which can be connected to a remote site, and
which provides flashing lights and/or an audible alarm to alert the user of
missed samples, cycle in progress, or completion o f the sampling
sequence.
Analog Option Allows the sampler to accept external flow rate signals.
Bottle Advance Action of spout as it moves from one bottle to the next bottle in a
sampling sequence.
Bottle Groups In bottle group sampling modes (*12 and *13) bottles are grouped by time
period. F or example, bottle group A might be filled on Saturday, and
bottle group B might be filled on Sunday.
Composite Sampling Same as single bottle sampling. Samples are placed in one bottle.
Configuration Function Initial program which must be entered to use t he sampler. D efines t he
type o f sampler, password, number of bottles, and other information
essential for the proper operation of the sampler. Accessed with the *99
command.
Contaminants Biological, chemical, or other types of foreign materials.
Contact Closure When a flow or level instrument records a pre-set change in level, an
electrical impulse is generated (or energized) causing a contact to close. If
the flow meter is attached to a sampler programmed to accept contact
closures, this causes a sample to be taken.
Control Panel Same as the controller. Keypad and system electronics on the electronics
enclosure. U sed to enter programming instructions.
Default Value Values which are used by the controller unless you change them.
Discrete Sampling Same as multi-bottle sampling. Samples are placed in multiple bottles.
Distribution Assembly Spout, steeper motor and spout gear.
Electronics Enclosure Unit which sits on top of the refrigerator and contains the controller, and
the peristaltic pump.
Flow Option Allows the sampler to be connected to a flow meter.
General Purpose Sampling Also referred to as non-toxic sampling.
