4.1.2 Bipolar Connectors

The B1 socket (7) of the “m” socket module (maxium

80-042-00) is intended for Martin standard instruments. Ac-

cordingly, cables with a small coaxial plug can be connected

here (e.g. bipolar forceps, bipolar HF forceps or bipolar scis-

sors).

The B2 socket (10) of the “m” socket module (maxium 80-

042-00) can be used for Martin standard instruments and

special instruments. In its center, the socket features a re-

ceptacle for connecting Martin standard connecting cables

with small coaxial plugs. In addition, the socket features a

connector for Martin multifunction plugs (i.e. Martin multi-

function connecting cables), thus offering finger switch con-

trol and instrument recognition functions.

With the “i” socket module (maxium 80-042-02), the sock-

ets B1 (7) and B2 (10) conform to the international instru-

ment standard. Therefore, B1 and B2 allow connection of

bipolar connecting cables with 4-mm plugs and US 2-pin flat

connectors (e.g. bipolar forceps, bipolar HF forceps or bipo-

lar scissors). In addition, the B2 socket also allows connec-

tion of a flat-pin plug with two additional control contacts for

finger switch activation and instrument recognition.
