  If you smell gas in the room when using your Masport Indoor Fireplace, pipe fittings may be leaking. Check all joints for leaks, including the gas supply system, the pilot light supply tube, the main burner supply tube, and all connections to the control valve and pressure reducing valve (Piccolo models). Use ONLY a proper leak check solution. NEVER USE AN OPEN FLAME TO CHECK FOR LEAKS.

  If you notice a smell of flue gas in the room when using your Masport Indoor Fireplace, it indicates flue gas is spilling from the draught diverter at the rear of the heater. Check for flue blockage, negative air pressure in the room, or circumstances causing a downdraft.

What to do if pilot stays alight, but burner won't light on my Masport Indoor Fireplace?

  If the pilot light stays lit on your Masport Indoor Fireplace (Piccolo model), but the burner won't light (EIS & ECS models), the thermostat may be switched off, set to a low temperature, defective, or the thermostat wiring to the heater may be faulty. Check the thermostat setting and switch it to ON or turn it to a higher temperature. If the wiring is undamaged and the connections are sound at each end, the thermostat may need replacing.

  If the fan on your Masport Indoor Fireplace will not run, first ensure that there is power to the fan. Make sure the fan plug is firmly in place and that the fan switch is not in the OFF position. Check that the power socket works with another appliance. Also, if you have an EIS & ECS model, the thermodisc may not be activated; wait until the heater achieves working temperature.

  If a thin coating of black soot forms inside the glass of your Masport Indoor Fireplace, it indicates a restricted combustion air supply, an over-supply of gas, or logs/embers out of position. Clean all primary and secondary air passageways. Adjust the gas delivery pressure at the test point. Arrange logs/embers correctly.

Why is my Masport Indoor Fireplace cycling on and off too rapidly?

  If your Masport Indoor Fireplace (thermostat models only) is cycling on and off too rapidly, it could be due to a large fire in a small room or incorrect positioning of the thermostat. Turn the flame down to a lower setting. Move the hand thermostat or wall thermostat further away from the hot air stream from the heater.

  If the ignition spark continues after the fire has lit on your Masport Indoor Fireplace (not Piccolo), the phase and neutral connections may be reversed in the house power wiring. Get a qualified person to correct the house wiring.

  If the pilot will not light and the Piezo igniter does not give a strong blue spark on your Masport Indoor Fireplace (Piccolo), there may be a faulty electrode wire connection. Make sure connections are firm and check the wire.
