STORAGE AND TREATMENT OF OILS
Usually, lubricants containers are built so
as to prevent any contamination. When
the user receives the lubricant, it is his/
her responsibility not to let it spoil or get
polluted. Lubricant can get damaged
because of:
– dust and dirt;
– condensation, specially by absorbing
humidity from the air;
– extreme temperatures;
– mixture with other oil types.
It is to be noted that dirt in the oil reduces
its eciency and encourages the wear of
those parts it comes in to contact with while
increasing the need for maintenance.On the
contrary, condensation cancels the eect
of some preservatives often present in very
limited quantities. Oil containers should be
stored in protected rooms so as not to be
exposed to extreme temperatures.
WARNING !!!
Absolutely avoid the mixing of
dierent grades and quality oils.
Although looking similar, they may be
incompatible between them.
Also, pay attention to the oil leaks as they
not only represent a waste, but they can
also pollute, cause falls and injuries to
people as well as res.
