Maintenance Procedures
Wheel Lift Cylinders and Wing Cylinders
There are no setup procedures or maintenance items on
these cylinders.
Disk Gang Disks
1. Replace the disk blades when the diameter is 17
inches or less.
It will also be necessary to check and tighten the disk
gang arbor bolts to prevent excessive wear.
After 12 hours initial operation, tighten the gang arbor
bolts to 600 to 800 ft-lb.
Note: A torque of 600 ft-lb would be equivalent to using
a 4 foot wrench with a 150 pound person hanging
freely on the end.
A torque of 800 ft-lb would be equivalent to a 200
pound person using a 4 foot wrench.
Note: When reassembling the disk gang, it may be
necessary to add a 1-3/8” machine washer
(FW-0138) in order to align the cross-drilled hole in
the shaft with the slots in the castle nut.

Removal of Spiral Reel Hub
1. Support the reel assembly.
2. Remove one reel blade.
3. Remove ve hub bolts.
4. Remove hub cross bolt.
5. Slide hub free from reel.
Note: May need to loosen all bolts to reassemble.
Assembly and Lubrication of Spiral Reel Hub
1. Tighten RD-4862 Hex Slotted Nut to 40 ft.-Lbs.
Loosen nut to rst slot in nut. Rotate hub ve
revolutions. If rotation is tight back off an additional
slot.
2. Push RD-4863 Spring Pin through nut and spindle
until it is ush with the nut.
3. Apply grease through the zerk until grease emerges
through bearing rollers. Rotate hub ve times.
4. Press RD-4859 Dust Cap onto hub.
5. Check end play.
a. Hold spindle securely in place.
b. Place a dial indicator onto the hub to measurement
upward movement.
c. Use a bar or lifting device the raise hub upwards.
d. The reading should not exceed 0.002”. Repair or
replace hubs with excessive end play.
